Celui qui raconte c\u2019est Dj\u00e9liba. Au cr\u00e9puscule de sa vie, ce vieux griot veut \u00e0 tout prix raconter au jeune Mabo Ke\u00efta l\u2019origine de son nom. Un nom qui \u00e9voque toute une \u00e9pop\u00e9e, celle du fondateur de l\u2019empire mandingue, Sundjata Ke\u00efta, le fils de la femme buffle\u2026 L\u2019imaginaire de Mabo fait rena\u00eetre ce treizi\u00e8me si\u00e8cle l\u00e9gendaire. Captiv\u00e9 par l\u2019histoire, il fait l\u2019\u00e9cole buissonni\u00e8re pour mieux \u00e9couter le vieux griot. Bien entendu cela ne va pas sans probl\u00e8mes, mais l\u2019histoire suivra son cours.<br \/>\n\u00ab Ce film traite non seulement d\u2019une page de l\u2019histoire africaine mais il traite surtout de l\u2019oubli progressif de cette histoire. Etant moi-m\u00eame griot de naissance, je suis de ce fait garant de l\u2019histoire de mon peuple vis-\u00e0-vis des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations futures. Le th\u00e8me s\u2019est impos\u00e9 \u00e0 moi comme un devoir. Mais j\u2019ai de la chance, j\u2019appartiens au si\u00e8cle du cin\u00e9ma, qui est un instrument fabuleux pour un griot \u00bb (Dani Kouyat\u00e9).<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Le r\u00e9alisateur<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">N\u00e9 dans une famille de griots \u00e0 Bobo Dioulasso au Burkina Faso en 1961, Dani Kouyat\u00e9 approche tr\u00e8s jeune les arts du spectacle. Il fait des \u00e9tudes de cin\u00e9ma d\u2019abord \u00e0 Ouagadougou, \u00e0 l&rsquo;Institut africain d&rsquo;\u00e9tudes cin\u00e9matographiques puis en France, o\u00f9 il obtient un dipl\u00f4me d\u2019\u00e9tudes approfondies (DEA) en cin\u00e9ma \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Paris 8. Il est \u00e9galement dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 de l&rsquo;\u00c9cole internationale d&rsquo;anthropologie de Paris.<br \/>\nR\u00e9sidant dans la capitale fran\u00e7aise, il effectue de nombreux s\u00e9jours en Europe et au Burkina dans le cadre de ses activit\u00e9s th\u00e9\u00e2trales en tant que metteur en sc\u00e8ne et com\u00e9dien. Il est conteur et musicien dans le spectacle familial \u00ab La voix du griot \u00bb cr\u00e9\u00e9 par son p\u00e8re, le griot et grand acteur Sotigui Kouyat\u00e9. Sa carri\u00e8re de r\u00e9alisateur de cin\u00e9ma commence avec des courts m\u00e9trages de fiction : \u00ab Bilakoro \u00bb(1989), \u00ab Tobbere Kossam \u00bb (1991), \u00ab Les larmes sacr\u00e9es du crocodile \u00bb (1993). En 1995, il r\u00e9alise son premier long-m\u00e9trage, \u00ab Ke\u00efta, l\u2019h\u00e9ritage du griot \u00bb, s\u2019appuyant sur la l\u00e9gende de Soundiata Ke\u00efta, fondateur de l\u2019empire mandingue.
